The recommendations for action for a breastfeeding-friendly Austria, which were developed by the AGES Centre for Nutrition & Prevention on behalf of the BMSGPK and together with the National Nutrition Commission (NEK) using the evidence-based process of the international research initiative ‘Becoming Breastfeeding Friendly (BBF)’, have been published. Breastfeeding protects the health of mother and child. In order to make it easier for parents to decide to breastfeed, it is necessary to create a structural and social framework to promote breastfeeding. The report provides a package of 14 strategic recommendations for action and associated measures that lay the foundation for making Austria more breastfeeding-friendly in the long term and thus making a significant contribution to the healthy upbringing of children. The recommendations for action were adopted by the NEK.
Here you can find the scientific report and the resulting NEK recommendation. A compact factsheet has also been produced as an additional source of information.
