For this reason, a systematic review on the topic of "Health aspects of animal milk consumption up to the end of the 3rd year of life" (see download below) was compiled together with the Department of Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology at Danube University Krems and used as the basis for the recommendations.
The present recommendations on cow's milk consumption in the first year of life (see download below) were developed together with experts in the field of infant nutrition and with the commissioners of the "Eat right from the start!" programme, also taking into account other German-language recommendations. The result was presented to the National Nutrition Commission (NEK) on 19 June 2013 and adopted unanimously.
The recommendation applies to metabolically healthy, full-term infants with and without a genetic predisposition and to both breastfed and non-breastfed children.
