The updated guideline on school buffets was published in 2024. It was comprehensively updated by AGES on behalf of the BMSGPK. Experts from the federal states and school buffet companies were also involved in the updating process. The guideline was then unanimously approved and adopted by the National Nutrition Commission.
The guideline contains recommendations for the product groups offered at the school buffet as well as for drinks and snack vending machines and information on the framework conditions (such as cooperation in the school). In addition, checklists are available for an initial self-assessment of the offer at the school buffet and in the vending machines.
Buffet establishments will thus find specific recommendations and implementation tips on how to organise their offer in a health-promoting way.
