Children should move as much as possible. The best place to move is outdoors.

Moving is fun and improves the movement skills of children. This is especially true for difficult types of movement, such as climbing, playing ball or moving to music.

Children need to learn about dangers and risks. They need to learn what to do in a dangerous situation. They can only learn this from experience. Therefore, do not stop your child when they are trying different types of movement. Only step in if there is a serious risk.

As parents, you can encourage your child to move a lot:

  • Include exercise in everyday life. Do this together with your child. Offer lots of opportunities to move.

  • Give your child as much time as possible for physical activities. Make sure that your child is safe when moving and playing.

  • Make sure that your child can also play and move with other children.

  • There are many different sport programmes for small children. Use these offers for families. For example, do a fitness class for parents and children.
